Occupational Qualification: Sewing Machine Operator
Develop practical skills in industrial sewing, quality control, and production processes.
Occupational Qualification: Pattern Making Assistant
Develop the skills to create accurate garment blocks and patterns using industry-standard sizing, measurements, and pattern-making techniques for the apparel manufacturing industry.
Occupational Qualification: Apparel Pattern Maker and Grader
Train to produce master pattern sets from sketches, sample garments, and design specifications — creating basic blocks, interpreting a design brief, developing working and final patterns, fitting and assessing first samples, and grading patterns across a full size range for commercial production.
Short Courses
Basic Industrial Machine Sewing
A focused six-day intensive in industrial machine sewing — threading, machine operation, seam construction, and finishing to a factory standard. All learning materials are included in the fee, so learners arrive ready to sew.
Introduction to Garment Construction
A practical six-week introduction to sewing and garment construction for beginners — covering garment construction techniques, industrial sewing equipment, professional sewing practices, fabric handling and preparation, and workplace quality standards. No previous sewing experience is required. The R3,000 programme fee may be paid over four weekly instalments; the R1,000 consumables fee is payable upon registration.
